Looking Good

Carter is looking so good these days. He loves to spend time on his tummy but it has to be very closely supervised. We don't want him to slam his tender face into the carpet.

This is what he looks like while closing his mouth most of the time. He doesn't really know how to hold his mouth yet. He is still learning how to close his mouth. To be honest I don't think he realized he had a bottom lip. He just keeps chewing on it like he is discovering it for the first time.

This was taken a few days ago. This is the new smile around the house. Still adorable!

Pictures

This is us waiting in the Same Day Surgery registration room. Carter is still doing okay. It gets much much worse from here.

This is in our "room." My sweet little man was in so much pain.

This is taken today, two days after surgery. He is currently off the Lortab and doing well on Tylenol. He is such a strong little guy. I am so proud of him!!

Surgery

I just wanted to let everyone know that the surgery went good. We went in at 11:45am and checked into surgery with a screaming, very hungry Carter. After getting vitals and waiting for the doctors to be ready he went into surgery at 1:40pm. He was quite a trouper while waiting. I actually handed a sleeping baby to the anethesiologist. After a couple of hours of waiting the surgeon came to tell us that everything went really well. I went back to hold him and just wanted to sit a comfort him for hours (which of course I did). He looks like he is in so much pain! He ate really good all night and didn't sleep much with the monitors and the IV all over him. But since he was doing so well we were discharged at 8:00am this morning. He hasn't been eating today and I think it is because his nose is bugging him. (It is full of blood and other fun things.) I promise to post pictures of him later (he looks so different to me!), I just wanted to let everyone know he is doing well. Thank you so much for all you love, support, and prayers. We are so so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family!!

Time flies!

Landen is getting so big! He has become a little bossy lately saying such things as "Leave me alone!" when I ask him to please eat his dinner or "Stop, sit down." I have no idea where he would get such phrases....but he is still our cute little guy. Plus he is such a good big brother. He has grown used to going to the doctor with us and he does really well while we are at the hospital. He knows Primary's so well that when I told him we were going to take brother to the doctor he asked if he could see the fish. For those of you that don't know, there is a display of fish across from the cafeteria at Primary Childrens. We are so blessed to have him in our lives. The good and the bad!

My parents were gracious enough to get us a Bumbo for Carter because he loves to sit up. As soon as we got it home however, Landen quickly took over. He doesn't sit in it anymore lately, but this was his favorite seat for a few days. There is nothing like sitting and watching cartoons, eating a Pop Tart, and drinking chocolate milk first thing in the morning. Especially if that show is about trains.

Stickers in the window was one of my favorite things to do when I was little, so I try to do it with Landen. We just buy a package every holiday and I let him put up most of them. He really seems to enjoy it and I like doing it with him. Hopefully it will turn into a tradition.

The only really big thing that has happened lately is Rob's sister Arianne got married in September. This was taken at Rob's parents house between the luncheon and the reception. (I promise I combed Landen's hair before the reception!) I just love how handsome my two boys look!

My two boys together. I love them both so much!

These are the last few pictures of Carter with this adorable face. After Tuesday he will look really different. It is hard to explain how I feel about this. I know getting the surgery is necessary and a good thing. But I will miss this face. I have loved him just the way he is since the minute he was born. We will try to let everyone know how the surgery goes. For those of you that are in my family, I'm sure grandma will be calling :) But for the rest of you we will try to spread the word.

I love this smile! You can't help but smile back.
